Life at the Time of Corona Virus Pt. 1

We’re at (officially) week 3 of the enhanced community quarantine in Manila, week 4 for me cos I have been working from home a week before everyone else due to coughs (I’m fine now) and so far I haven’t gone crazy yet. Social media is awash with dalgona coffee, recipes and workout videos and it’s nice to connect with some people I haven’t talked to in a while. I’m happy to report I have cleaned items I’ve been meaning to clean and my desk is clear again. Life is strange nowadays - a video said it might take a while for people to normally travel. I am sad that my annual Bali plans are obviously not happening and very sad that Alanis Morrisette’s concert is not happening this week (sometime this year, it seems!).

Where I live most days

Where I live most days

Life is strange — in this lifetime I can say I experienced the following:

  1. Only 1 person can go out per household

  2. Wearing masks, protective shields

  3. Being at home for 1 month straight. I am glad to have Mike as my quarantine partner and my two boys!

  4. Everybody does thing online including schools.

  5. There’s a curfew — 8PM to 5AM.

  6. No parks, no malls, no operations. The world actually slowed down.

How I’m Coping (other than cutting my bangs or baking bread)

  • Coursera Courses. Might as well learn something new. I’m currently on a course called Psychological First Aid. This one from MoMa is my next.

  • Netflix. Who am I kidding? I just watch stuff after work and working out every weeknight. So far I’ve finished Tiger King, Crash Landing on You, Ozark and now I’m on Community.

  • Speaking of working out, I’ve been following Heather Robertson’s workouts. Her videos don’t have too much talking.

I hope you’re safe, healthy and sane where you are. Sending you much love.
