Confessions of a Shopaholic The Movie
Yes, I actually screamed while watching the trailer. I knew this was gonna happen! Yay! My favorite chick lit of all time is now a movie, starring, no less than my favorite rom-com actress Isla Fisher.
IMDB says: Based on the book by Sophie Kinsella. Rebecca Bloomwood (Isla Fisher) is 25 year olds, lives with her best friend Suze (Krysten Ritter) in Suze's flat (paying her friend rent that is well below market value), in a trendy part of town, has a very boring job writing for a financial magazine, and she has a shopping addiction, for which her crap job doesn't pay enough. Her bills are piling up, so she tries cutting back (complete fiasco), then she tries making more money (another fiasco). Eventually, Becky discovers a story that she is truly invested in. Exposing the story gets the attention of a (male, need I say more?) colleague that she hasn't quite figured out yet. Some drama ensues as she snags the (EXTREMELY hot) guy, and she attempts to pay off her ever-growing debt.
I can't wait!! Srsly, I haven't lusted for a movie this much since SATC so I'm pretty sure I'm one of the first people to line up in cinemas come 2009.
When I watched though from the review, I sensed that it was more American-ized than Brit (in the book, Rebecca Bloomwood is a Londoner), much like how Bridget Jones was American-ized as well. I am not sad about it, though, because IMO, Kinsella's books are the only proof that British have sense of humor. Besides, Becky is not a super fan of European brands like Gucci (as shown in the trailer). I clearly remember she swears by British brands like Denny & George, Jasper Conran and Debenhams.
Oh well. I am still very much excited!
