Chronicles of Blushes: Benefit's Rockateur

There are days when you will be clamoring for a certain shade of blusher, it's impossible to kick the craving.

So this is how my day goes: I wake up at 5:30 AM, lounge a bit in bed for 30 minutes, make some coffee and breakfast, read the news, take a shower, go through my rituals on plan, blow dry my hair and walk to work. But then there was a time I was a bit late because I couldn't find the perfect shade of blush I wanted {sort of an old rose reminiscent of my long time favorite NARS Oasis}. That was until my hands landed on a box of Benefit's Rockateur blush:

According to Benefit:

Pick up the beat with a rush of heat! This rockin’ rose gold cheek powder gives a famously provocative flush that turns heads on-stage and off. The crowd will go wild for its sexy faceted design, accented in luxe gold. For an encore, the custom angled, dimensional brush gives rich, show-stopping payoff every time.

Directions for use: Swirl brush over the powder & tap off excess. Sweep onto the apples of your cheeks & along your cheekbones.

Benefit's Rockateur had me at "rose gold," a wonderfully beautiful combination on pretty much everything including the cheeks. I took out my Charm blush brush, swirled it on a couple of circles and applied it on myself.

Here is a photo of me wearing it, with my friend Nicole, during our recent trip to Cebu:

It matches my MAC Pink Nouveau lipstick, too!

What I Love About It:

  • Blendable. Rockateur gives a sheer swipe of color and I'm happy that I never had to apply powder on top of it because it's not that sinampal look.
  • Perfect for fair to morena shades {I'm NC30-35 in MAC}.
  • True to its name, Rockateur gives the cheeks a rush of heat, which is what after all gives us all blushing cheeks. I think the last time I blushed a natural blush was when I was at the Aerosmith concert. Very rockateur!
  • I love the glowy skin effect. Not too sure about how long it will stay on, as longevity depends on skin moisture and environment. I normally need to retouch after lunch and I stay inside an airconditioned office most of the time.

What I Don't Love as Much:

  • ACK. PHP 1,600 a pop! But we all get what we pay for and this does feel like luxe in all aspects.
  • Packaging. Love the design but it's a bit bulky.

Currently, my blush du jour and not changing any time soon. My favorite Benefit blush remains to be Sugarbomb though.

Benefit Rockateur is available at all Benefit stores at Rustan's Glorietta, Mall of Asia and Trinoma for PHP 1,600.
