Things I Love Sundays: Love on the Weekends

I'm borrowing John Mayer's most recent song, one that dropped over Spotify as last year was ending. I've always been a steady fan, one who listens to his songs whenever the mood is right, when there's a slight drizzle outside and it's a little cloudy, you just tumble around the bedsheets, and savor the weekend with not a care in the world. That is how John Mayer makes me feel like.

La La Land, 2016, directed by Damien Chazell, was a spectacle of beautiful lights, colors, cinematography I only see in French films and those by Wes Anderson. It's a beautiful storytelling of Mia and Sebastian, who are both working towards their Hollywood / jazz dreams set against the backdrop of Los Angeles, City of Angels, its beautiful palm trees and cloudless skies. There's a bit of musical going on, dance routines reminiscent of Humphrey Bogart and black and white movies we used to watch back in the day. Everybody in my feed is raving about La La Land, and I agree it 's a great film.

I can't say much yet about it as I am still digesting and processing it but it was a visual and cinematic treat I am glad to have had this weekend with Mike.

In other news, here's what my weekend looked like: time with friends, steak nights because Mike is experimenting a lot hence I'm a happy girl to eat the meat he made and workouts, but those don't appear on my Instagram feed just yet.

"Here's to the ones who dream
Foolish as they may seem
Here's to the hearts that ache
Here's to the mess we make"

Happy Monday!
