Review: Elev8 Lagree

OLA!

It's been maybe two months now that I've tried out the much talked about Elev8 Lagree Megaformer exercise. Simply put, it's very similar to a reformer pilates routine, but with a slightly bigger and somewhat more complicated structure. According to its websiteLagree Fitness™ is a patented 45-minute, full-body workout that burns fat and sculpts lean muscle faster than any other fitness program.

Elev8 Lagree Fitness

My first ever Lagree session was very intimidating and confusing. Lagree tends to have cutesy names like The Butterfly and Newspaper but once you've gotten the hang of it {for me, about my 3rd time}, it was easier to transition. The classes combine strength, endurance, cardiovascular, balance, flexibility, and core training, saving you time and maximizing results. For my first ever class, I was the fattest one {HUHU, based on my perception} but I took this to be inspired from my classmates. I loved the fact that for that class, everyone had abs except me which I took to mean that I'll have abs too sometime if I kept at it, LOL. I'm kidding.

The Good:

  1. THE BURN! THE SHAKES! I mean, I haven't met an intense class as Lagree and it's true for me at least that after two classes, I could feel myself toning up. The thing about my body though is it adjusts pretty quickly to exercise but not as fast as two classes {in the space of a week, mixed with cardio and lifting}. The very thing that stands in between me and my abs are my junk food milk tea slurping habits so yeah.

  2. It's Meghan Markle's exercise of choice. I know, I know it's a little silly to follow an exercise fad just because it's the Duchess of Sussex's exercise but she's around my age and I've always been a fan of Meghan Markle from her Suits days. In the Philippines, women whose physique I admire go to Lagree too so yes, I'm there!

  3. It's low impact and strengthening and builds a slender body. For the most of 2017, my workouts revolved around HIIT Pilates, Flyweight and F45, the last two, while effective for shedding weight, didn't give me the body I wanted and what I want is a slender, toned body, not too bulky arms and shoulders. I'm seeing it when I do HIIT Pilates {Which BTW moved to Beyond Yoga every Mondays and Wednesdays!} and Lagree, and cardio with Saddle Row.

  4. Large Lockers, Fab Building, a Towel. The showers are in the Ore Central’s restrooms which has toiletries. Thank you for the info, Janie!

The Not So Good:

  1. I can only do it once a week. My muscles are so tired every time I do it so it takes about a week for me to completely recover, hence I do other exercises within the week. Also:

  2. It's relatively more expensive. Compared to my other workouts, this one is about PHP1,250/pop but gets cheaper as you get bigger packages. Understandably enough, each class is up to 10 students only, and each student gets to be on a megaformer. That said, I'm just glad that my employer {Globe!} has a corporate rate with Lagree! HOORAY!

Reminders:

  1. Don't forget your grippy socks if you're attending a class. I tried attending with a pair of regular socks because I forgot my grippy socks and it just wasn't the same. I've bought 2 more pairs of flamingo Toe Sox since then HEHE.

  2. Book when you're super sure cos you'll lose a slot if you cancel 24 hours before.

  3. If you forget your towel, they have it so no worries!

Overall: I've been religiously doing Lagree weekly since I first tried it and I can't wait to get back on it when I return to Manila. Still my favorite workout to date!
