Things I Love Mondays: Joy

Before anything else: OMG, it's been two weeks since I last blogged! O.o I guess life happens really when you're too busy planning things out.

If you haven't guessed yet from the title, I was one of the throngs of kids {at heart} who watched Inside Out on its opening weekend last Saturday. What a treat it was -- especially since I watched it courtesy of Globe, too {gotta love your own} :P I brought three of my dear friends and we all sobbed at the Bingbong scene. Without ruining it for you if you've not seen it, I am especially astounded at how the movie was a brilliant way of depicting depression and what happens when a person misses an emotion.

And since most of us knows what the plot of Inside Out is, let me tell you what joy means to me. It's that feeling of looking for the good in everything. It's that trusting that everything is working the way it should be. For me, it has been all about declaring Lord the god of all the sectors of my life. I didn't know how to do it but since that day I found myself in the mercy of all things that's good and pure, the only thing left to do was give up and declare Him as lord. I've been joyful since then.

In other movie-related news, I've also been couch potato-ing and some of the awesome movies I've seen of late are below, if you need any recommendations on what to watch.

Tropa de Elite 1 and 2 is like your On the Jobonly Brazilian.  I was expecting a lot of nudity since it was Brazilian but it was pleasantly nudity-free, however, pretty full of crime. Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is an emotional journey of a father, done Wes Anderson style: with perfect symmetry and an impeccable color seascape palette.

In non movie news, these are the things I am loving the past week: learning watercolor through my friend Liz's watercolor workshop, long weekends, taking out Butters, my 3 month old shih tzu pup to breakfast, play time with Butters, new books from Fully Booked, night outs with my team, waking up to cuddle weather, feeding my pup, singing him songs, shopping for new clothes after what seems like forever, new flats and being in the city while everybody seems to be out of town.

Happy week ahead, my loves :)
