The Ultimate: Shu Uemura Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil

Hello, ladies!

As I type this, it's midnight and I am nowhere feeling sleepy so I thought I'd whip up some reviews on the thing that's nearest to me: that would be my current cleansing oil: Shu Uemura Ultime8 Sublime Cleansing Oil.

It was first revealed by Shu Uemura's Nina Solano back in August when Chocolat Donna was launched. I remember letting out a big gasp --- anything gold makes me gasp, that's all.

As a big fan of shu uemura's cleansing oils, the Fresh variant being my favorite of all, I was hesitant to try it out, for fear of breaking out my skin. At this point, I'm already past that phase of trying out everything I can get my hands on and sticking to what works, in terms of skincare is a principle.

And then I ran out of my current cleansing oil, shu uemura White Efficient, so I turned to this and about four bottles of Fresh and told myself, "I should give you a try."

The precious essence of 8 exquisite botanical origin oils has been merged together.  Those were carefully sought out from Chinese medicines and beauty oils all over the world proven to have the highest skincare efficacy for a petal-soft silky smooth sensation.
8 exquisite oils from botanical origin for ultimate solution to 8 skin benefits powerful yet gentle botanical origin removal system for superb cleansing.
Removes effortless all kinds of make-up and impurities.  Skin feels soften, conditioned, hydrated, nourished from within and glows with a new radiance.
  • Luxe. Pure luxe. There's a certain feeling one gets when a luxe product is being used and this has got it. While every single shu uemura cleansing oil has that, this being the ultimate as in the superlative of the cleansing oils, it had a different feeling to it.
  • Wet or Dry. The thing with cleansing oils is that since I've gotten into the habit of removing facial dirt through this, I don't wet my hands so the oil doesn't emulsify yet. This one is okay to remove dirt even with wet hands.
  • Surprisingly Light. Being a fan girl of all the cleansing oils, I know well enough which ones are the 'heavier' oils {that would be the green one} so this being the one that contains all sorts of oils, I expected it to be heaviest. It wasn't at all. It's very light and had the same consistency as the pink oil.
  • Removes, as promised. The clincher of any makeup remover product and acid test is how well it removes waterproof makeup. White Efficient was pretty good at that but this one does the job, too. And quickly, might I add.
  • Smells the second best. I will always have Fresh on the top most pedestal, especially in the scent department but this is second, with its olive oil with mint scent. Maybe that's just me.
  • Because it's lighter, my eyes aren't blurry after. This is a problem with other variants, Fresh included. When you've used the oils on your eyes for a time, the problem is rinsing it off, which didn't occur with this one. It's probably because of the formulation, I'm really not sure :)
  • Love the Open/Close cap. I brought my cleansing oils to Toronto and Tokyo and happy to report that they didn't spill!
  • 3-4 drops is one all needs, thankyouverymuch.

However:

  • Price. There is a jump with the price of this one, probably it being the ultimate. For the 450 mL bottle, it's Php 6,200 {IKR??} and Php 2,500 for the 150 mL. If I'm not mistaken, other variants is about 4,000 only. Crazy, right? But like I would always say and will never get tired of saying: One always gets what she pays for.

Would I buy this again?

Not at the moment because I seriously have a LOT of shu uemura cleansing oils to last me a few years -- effect of hoarding, y'all. But if I do need to, it would be a toss up between this and the Fresh variant.
