It's All About the Bow.

>> Saturday, July 25, 2009

Last year, from Stella Luna's S/S 2008 collection, I drooled over these bow-ed pairs.

The problem though, was that at that time, I think there was only one branch in the Philippines, which was then, only at Adora GB5. I scoured and visited Adora every day then just to see if these babies would eventually be sold in there. Sadly, I never saw it sold in there so I gave up.

Last week, by pure luck, I chanced upon a mix of the two -- in the form of Ichigo's Lena.

Lena, in Size 7

Oh how I love bows. Especially the ones that are squarish like this. Looking at them makes me really feel giddy. Add to that I only scored them for less than a thousand, compared to the Stella Luna ones which are about 5K a pair, I think I have enough reason to be giddy. Speaking of giddy, let me share with you my FOTD:

On Me:

Updates:

  • It's a Saturday night and I am not my usual self of wanting to be out. For once, I'm enjoying the quietness of just playing Farm Town on Facebook, reading blogs and resting every once in a while. These past few days have been slightly slow for me as I haven't been feeling well. :(
  • I attended a real, authentic bridal shower for the first time in my life and I gotta say it's a real ... experience.
  • I almost drove myself crazy. When I opened the cupboards this morning, I saw that we have no more coffee -- instant and ground. And because I am too tired to go out and buy, I threw tantrums until the boyfriend got me some caffeine treats. <3
  • I am still too lazy to put a full face of makeup. The past months, I only make sure I have foundation, blush and lipstick. Must be the weather.
  • I won Mama Was a Rolling Stone's contest. My prize is a dress of my choice. Lucky!
  • Mag:net BHS's Sing-along-kot featuring Bob Guerrero and Gabe Mercado is the sh*t. We sang along to the sappiest, silliest, cheesiest 80's songs -- onstage. It was waaayyy fun that we're thinking of doing it every Thursday. What did we sing? The Bangles' Eternal Flame, Lionel Richie's Hello and Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart. Oh how I love it.

Happy weekend, ladies!

Dear, Diary

As a kid, I've been a Dear, Diary kind of girl. I would rush home every afternoon from school, prop myself on my bed and write about the day's events. Sometimes it would be about school, or family, or my girl friends and sometimes my crushes. What's childhood, teendom and college life with crushes, secrets and poems?

To date, I have volumes and volumes of lined notebooks that served as my diaries for long years. Since I started working though, I have lost my energy to write about my life on pen and paper --- maybe all because of technology. When I started having a computer with me all the time, I preferred typing my thoughts albeit offline. However, nothing beats the sound of the pen as it rustles with the paper of your diary, as word per word gets written, in a manuscript that will live forever.

Fortunately, Topaz Horizon and Avalon.ph are giving away a Moleskine Large Cahier Ruled Black Set of 3.

Is it just me or is Wolowitz and Raj wayyy too hot in this photo?
Credits: CBS
[I want Kaley's entire outfit, including the hat!]

About 5 months ago, I scowled at the thought [and sight] of my boyfriend watching a TV series with four geeks and a blonde. These four geeks, to me, knew jokes only fellow geeks like my BF and my brother would know. They cited Star Trek quotes, spoke, no, played Klingon boggle and had a band in Rock Band, a popular game in PS3.Fast forward to now, together with cereals, fresh milk and oatmeal I eat for breakfast, is an episode of The Big Bang Theory that I watch, replacing another favorite, How I Met Your Mother. Like, for the second, third time now.

Starring Johnny Galecki as Dr. Leonard Hofstadter, Jim Parsons as Dr. Sheldon Cooper, Kaley Cuoco as Penny, Simon Helberg as Howard Wolowitz and Kunal Nayyar as Rajesh Koothrappali, every episode of TBBT leaves me with truckloads of belly laughs, lesser stress levels and something new to add to my repository of information. Take this for example:

In one episode, Sheldon tells Leonard [they are housemates and Penny is their neighbor] that he doesn’t stand a chance at Penny:

Sheldon: You have about as much chance of going out with Penny as the Hubble Telescope has of finding that at the center of each black hole there's a little man with a flashlight trying to find the circuit breaker.

Sheldon: I'm not insane! My mother had me tested!

Albeit fairly new in the TV arena, the show is an absolute hilarious fete, even if you don’t understand Star Trek jokes, didn’t read comics as a kid or hated all your Science subjects. Trust me, I’m no geek either but this is a crazy, must-watch show.

A whole new world of possibilities, including love. The TBBT cast in their
TBBT characters. Howard, Leonard, Penny, Sheldon and Raj.
Credits: CBS

My favorite scenes/episodes:

  • The one where Penny accidentally sprayed paint on Sheldon’s ‘spot’
  • The one where Leonard’s mom came for a visit.
  • The one where Sheldon gets a girlfriend and yet he doesn’t know it.
  • The ones where Penny sings Sheldon the ‘soft kitty’ song.
  • The one where Penny made Penny Blossoms.
  • The one where Sheldon and Leonard 'lost' their pants.

  • The one where the opening was the four of them performing ‘Under the Bridge’ by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

    and

The one where Wolowitz wasn’t himself.
Can't wait for Season 3!

A Place With No Name

Things You'd Love to Say at Work.

Not that they apply to me :D

I found a bunch of 'quotable quotes' in my email and they are such a good laugh, especially over beer. The officemates and I have been quoting these for two days already, quite incessantly I must say. [The ones in boldface are personal favorites, I can quote them by numbers]:

1. I can see your point, but I still think you're full of shit.
2. I don't know what your problem is, but I'll bet it's hard to pronounce.
3. How about never? Is never good for you?
4. I see you've set aside this special time to humiliate yourself in public.
5. I'm really easy to get along with once you people learn to see it my way.
6. I'll try being nicer if you'll try being smarter.
7. I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
8. I don't work here. I'm a consultant.
9. It sounds like English, but I can't understand a word you're saying.
10. Ahhh... I see the screw-up fairy has visited us again...
11. I like you. You remind me of when I was young and stupid.
12. You are validating my inherent mistrust of strangers.
13. I have plenty of talent and vision. I just don't give a damn.
14. I'm already visualizing the duct tape over your mouth.
15. I will always cherish the initial misconceptions I had about you.
16. Thank you. We're all refreshed and challenged by your unique point of view.
17. The fact that no one understands you doesn't mean you're an artist.
18. Any connection between your reality and mine is purely coincidental.
19. What am I? Flypaper for freaks!?
20. I'm not being rude. You're just insignificant.
21. It's a thankless job, but I've got a lot of Karma to burn off.
22. Yes, I am an agent of Satan, but my duties are largely ceremonial.
23. And your crybaby whiny-butt opinion would be...?
24. Do I look like a people person?
25. This isn't an office. It's Hell with fluorescent lighting.
26. I started out with nothing & still have most of it left.
27. Sarcasm is just one more service we offer.
28. If I throw a stick, will you leave?
29. Errors have been made. Others will be blamed.
30. Whatever kind of look you were going for, you missed.
31. I'm trying to imagine you with a personality.
32. A cubicle is just a padded cell without a door.
33. Can I trade this job for what's behind door #1?
34. Too many freaks, not enough circuses.
35. Nice perfume. Must you marinate in it?
36. Chaos, panic and disorder - my work here is done.
37. How do I set a laser printer to stun?
38. I thought I wanted a career, turns out I just wanted paychecks.

Giddy and The Trick to Not Spending

>> Tuesday, July 14, 2009

I've been reading left and right about the fabulous Style Warrior Collection from MAC and honestly, I've been wayyyy tempted! But these past few days for me weren't exactly the best time to buy more makeup because I've rarely been applying any eye makeup at all :(

However, when the package from Mhean arrived --- my prize from her Earth Day contest, [thanks again, sweetie] 6 empty pans of MAC e/s which I would exchange for a tube of lipstick, it was well, very fortunate of me. But since I had to visit the MAC Store in Glorietta, I had to have that resolve not to buy anything now. And guess what? I'm actually good at it! I left my purse and my wallet in the car which made me push back all the retail lust that was building up as I was walking towards Glorietta 3, past The Ramp, Rustan's and finally, MAC. In a way it felt stupid because as I was there, I realized I needed to buy a pair of shoes for a new dress I will wear for a wedding. But that's another story -- and yes, I must forgive myself on this one.

I'm proud to say that I walked away of the MAC Store with only one tube of lipstick, in Giddy, nonetheless.

I originally wanted to snag the Frost shade in Bombshell but it was out of stock. I read from the Kikay Pinay's blog *waves at Shen* about Giddy and saw that it was a nice pink, not like in my photo and poof! :)

So yeah, MAC Giddy makes up for my hauling ban [at least for makeup and I don't even know how long this ban will last] plus the MAC Liquidlast Liner in Blue Herizon, which Mhean threw in to package as well.

What about you?
What is your technique to prevent yourself from buying stuff during
self-declared hauling bans?

Sneezes and Kisses

>> Wednesday, July 8, 2009

It always fascinated me how people go from loving you madly to nothing at all, nothing. It hurts so much.

When I feel someone is going to leave me, I have a tendency to break up first before I get to hear the whole thing. Here it is. One more, one less. Another wasted love story.

I really love this one.

When I think that its over, that I'll never see him again like this... well yes, I'll bump into him, we'll meet our new boyfriend and girlfriend, act as if we had never been together, then we'll slowly think of each other less and less until we forget each other completely. Almost.

Always the same for me. Break up, break down. Drunk up, fool around. Meet one guy, then another, fuck around. Forget the one and only. Then after a few months of total emptiness start again to look for true love, desperately look everywhere and after two years of loneliness meet a new love and swear it is the one, until that one is gone as well.

There's a moment in life where you can't recover any more from another break-up. And even if this person bugs you sixty percent of the time, well you still can’t live without him. And even if he wakes you up every day by sneezing right in your face, well you love his sneezes more than anyone else's kisses.

Via: Le Love

I've been crying relentlessly since I watched MJ's Memorial which I watched via CNN at 1:00 am here in the Philippines. I particularly hated Jennifer Hudson's rendition of "Will You Be There?" She made it sound too strong when I've always had the idea [and I thought MJ thought, too] that the song was soulful, sad and vulnerable. I cried like crazy thus resulting to red eyes the whole day and I'm extremely groggy due to lack of sleep with the program ending at around 4:30 ish.

Since MJ died, I've been on an MJ-LSS mode and all I was listening to was his songs. Surprisingly, when I feel like breaking the cycle, I listen to only one song: Everytime I See You by Fra Lippo Lippi. I wonder why. *smiles like a high school girl*

Updates: My leg still hurt from too much dancing at our company event where Mr. Pure Energy G.V. had a private concert. Add to that a rockin' birthday party of one of my dearest girlfriends, K --- I haven't really recovered.

Why is love intensified by absence?

- Claire Abshire, The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger.

"Don't you think it's better to be extremely happy for a short while, even if you lose it, than to be just okay for your whole life?"

Clare is married to Henry, a guy who suffers from Chrono Displacement Disorder -- he travels through time, he disappears, and reappears in different stages of his life, and Clare's.

I don't think I can do justice to the trailer [or of the book for that matter]. You gotta watch it. You gotta feel your heart rip to the sound of Lifehouse's "Broken."

I can't wait to see this.

Review: Clinique's Rinse Off Eye Makeup Solvent

>> Sunday, July 5, 2009

The thing with eye makeup is that no matter how beautiful you've done it, you eventually have to take it at the end of the day. When make up and skin experts say that the trick to beautiful skin is removing make up every single night, it was for a reason. Makeup clog pores, cause breakouts and sucks the health out of the skin if left too long.

Choosing to accentuate your eyes with eye make up every day entails a responsibility --- that is to remove it at the end of the day no matter how tired/drunk/lazy you may be. I'd have to admit though, there are times that I purposefully forget to remove my makeup. Those are the times that I almost crawled home from fatigue and sleepiness which brought me to the search for a new eye makeup remover.

I used to use a makeup remover from Fasio. It was only an accidental buy that seemed to work so I didn't replace it. The thing with it though was that the after-feel of it was rather oily that I have to work up a lather after I use it.

When my boss returned from the US, it was extremely fortunate that he gave me this as one of his pasalubong

Clinique's Rinse Off Eye Makeup Solvent
$16.50 for 4.2 fl. oz [approx. PhP 792]

Clinique says:

Unique formula quickly removes all eye makeup, from lashes to brows. Perfect for quick makeup changes, touchups, repairs. Cleans eye area easily without disturbing other makeup. No rubbing necessary. Oil-free, blur-free, sting-free. Ophthalmologist Tested.

What I liked about it:

Eye makeup quickly dissolves in this product. I've been using Maybelline Volum' Express Cat Eyes and Cover Girl Lash Blast simultaneously, both waterproof but are removed in 15 seconds or less with this.

  • Does not sting at all!
  • Scent is the same as other Clinique products. If you've tried their clarifying lotion, they smell the same.
  • It's true! No rubbing needed!
  • Works well when I poke my eye with a mascara wand and mess up the whole eye area. I just dip a Q-tip onto it and clean the mess in 5 seconds.

What I didn't like about it:

  • The packaging! Just like the other liquid products of Clinique, the bottles have no stoppers. If I was a little more careless, I would have spilled everything by now.

I give this product 4 out of five stars :)
